Types of Narrative Texts

In the world of words, there lies a tale,

Of narratives diverse, like ships that sail.

Each type a journey, a unique course,

Let’s explore these texts, with words as our force.

First, there’s the epic, a grand heroic song,

Of battles and legends, where heroes belong.

From Homer to Tolkien, they take us afar,

In lands full of wonders, beneath moon and star.

The ballad, a story in verses well-wrought,

With passion and tragedy, in verses it’s taught.

These tales in rhyme, passed down through the ages,

Sing of love, loss, and history’s pages.

The fable, a moral wrapped in a tale,

With animals as characters, they never fail.

Aesop and La Fontaine, masters of the art,

Teach us life’s lessons, from the very start.

Fairy tales enchant with magic and dreams,

With princes and princesses, and mystical themes.

From Cinderella’s slipper to a beanstalk so tall,

In lands filled with wonder, we’re enthralled by them all.

Mystery and suspense, the thriller’s domain,

With secrets and crimes, they keep us in strain.

From Sherlock to Christie, the clues they unveil,

Intrigue and suspense, they never do fail.

Science fiction, a glimpse of the future unknown,

With spaceships and aliens, to the stars we’re flown.

From Asimov to Bradbury, their visions take flight,

In worlds of tomorrow, where the future’s in sight.

Historical texts, a glimpse of the past,

Through wars and through peace, they forever will last.

From Herodotus to Gibbon, they record what’s occurred,

With lessons to learn from history’s word.

Biographies and memoirs, a life on the page,

The stories of people, their joys and their rage.

From Gandhi to Franklin, they let us explore,

The lives of great figures, who’ve gone on before.

So many narratives, each with its own style,

They capture our hearts and make us smile.

In stories we find, a world to explore,

A treasure of words, forever to adore.

So whether it’s an epic or fable you seek,

Or a thriller or history to make your heart beat,

Remember the power of words on a page,

To transport you through time and across the stage.

Once, a thirsty ant found itself trapped at the edge of a deep and treacherous puddle. As it struggled to escape, a kind dove, perched on a nearby branch, saw the ant’s plight and dropped a tiny leaf into the water. The ant clung to the leaf and was carried to safety. Grateful for this act of mercy, the ant later reciprocated by saving the dove from a hunter’s snare, using its strong jaws to free the bird. Through their simple acts of kindness, the tiny ant and the gentle dove showed that even the smallest creatures can make a significant difference and that compassion is a virtue worth embracing.
