The Simple Future with “Will”

The Simple Future is used to talk about actions or events that will happen in the future. One of the most common ways to express the future in English is by using “will”.

How to Form the Simple Future

To form a sentence in the Simple Future, we use:

 Subject + will + base verb (V1)

• I will travel to Spain next year.
• She will call you later.
• They will study for the exam.

For negative sentences, we use “will not” (won’t):

• He won’t be at the party.
• We won’t have school tomorrow.

For questions, we put “will” before the subject:

• Will you help me?
• Will they arrive on time?

When Do We Use “Will”?

We use “will” for:

Predictions 

• I think Brazil will win the World Cup.
• It will rain tomorrow.

 Promises and Offers 

• I will help you with your homework.
• Don’t worry, I will call you.

Decisions Made at the Moment 

• I’m hungry! I will order a pizza.
• She forgot her book, so I will lend her mine.

 Future Facts 

• The sun will rise at 6 AM.
• Christmas will be on December 25th.

Conclusion

The Simple Future with “will” is easy to use and very common in everyday conversations. Practice using it to talk about your plans, predictions, and decisions!
