Esse local foi escolhido como centro de apoio \u00e0 Constru\u00e7\u00e3o da nova capital. Fundado em 1810, que se ligou inicialmente a Bonfim (atual Silv\u00e2nia) e, depois a Barro Preto (atual Trindade). Nasceu ao redor do Santu\u00e1rio de Nossa Senhora do Perpetuo Socorro, atual matriz de Campinas. O bairro tem (210) duzentos e dez anos. Sendo o mais antigo e tradicional de Goi\u00e2nia.
