Al\u00e9m da grande divis\u00e3o entre Oriente e Ocidente, o isolamento entre as partes do Ocidente crescia.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-black-color has-text-color has-medium-font-size\">Segundo o historiador Jacques Le Goff, o com\u00e9rcio entre as prov\u00edncias declinava, a produ\u00e7\u00e3o agr\u00edcola ou artesanal restringia sua \u00e1rea de circula\u00e7\u00e3o, o numer\u00e1rio diminu\u00eda e deteriorava-se,&nbsp; \u00e1reas de cultivos eram abandonadas e os campos vazios multiplicavam-se.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-black-color has-text-color has-medium-font-size\">Este processo resultou na forma\u00e7\u00e3o de c\u00e9lulas voltadas para si entre desertos. Ainda conforme Le Goff, a depaupera\u00e7\u00e3o urbana foi acelerada pelas destrui\u00e7\u00f5es provocadas pelas invas\u00f5es germ\u00e2nicas. A viol\u00eancia geral provocou destrui\u00e7\u00e3o, ru\u00edna, pobreza, isolamento e retraimento.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-black-color has-text-color has-medium-font-size\"><strong><em>A ruraliza\u00e7\u00e3o<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-black-color has-text-color has-medium-font-size\">As cidades foram uma presa predileta, as v\u00edtimas maiores das invas\u00f5es em fun\u00e7\u00e3o de suas riquezas concentradas. E elas n\u00e3o conseguiram se reerguer por causa do afastamento da popula\u00e7\u00e3o.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-black-color has-text-color has-medium-font-size\">Essa fuga foi uma consequ\u00eancia da fuga de mercadorias. As rotas comerciais pararam de abastecer o mercado urbano, a fuga de numer\u00e1rios deixou a popula\u00e7\u00e3o urbana sem poder de compra. Os citadinos se viram obrigados a se refugiar perto dos locais de produ\u00e7\u00e3o. Aconteceu, ent\u00e3o, o processo de ruraliza\u00e7\u00e3o.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-black-color has-text-color has-medium-font-size\">A ruraliza\u00e7\u00e3o est\u00e1 na base da sociedade medieval. O sistema de trocas desorganizado multiplica a fome, a fome empurra a popula\u00e7\u00e3o para o campo e a submete \u00e0 servid\u00e3o dos grandes propriet\u00e1rios que a alimentam. Isso cria uma compartimenta\u00e7\u00e3o profissional e pessoal que ser\u00e1 o tra\u00e7o marcante da sociedade do Ocidente medieval.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-black-color has-text-color has-medium-font-size\">Esse tra\u00e7o \u00e9 uma heran\u00e7a do final do imp\u00e9rio romano.
