A destrui\u00e7\u00e3o da vegeta\u00e7\u00e3o e a polui\u00e7\u00e3o das \u00e1guas s\u00e3o consequ\u00eancias diretas da expans\u00e3o urbana, uma vez que grandes quantidades de res\u00edduos dom\u00e9sticos e industriais s\u00e3o descartados nos rios da regi\u00e3o. Embora cerca de 85% da vegeta\u00e7\u00e3o nas partes mais baixas permane\u00e7am preservadas, mais da metade das terras elevadas foram devastadas e continuam sofrendo com essa amea\u00e7a.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-black-color has-text-color has-medium-font-size\">Outros fatores respons\u00e1veis pela degrada\u00e7\u00e3o da vegeta\u00e7\u00e3o do Pantanal incluem a minera\u00e7\u00e3o (garimpo) em larga escala, a pr\u00e1tica insustent\u00e1vel do turismo, a agropecu\u00e1ria com pisoteio de animais e a constru\u00e7\u00e3o de hidrel\u00e9tricas e rodovias sem medidas adequadas para mitigar seus impactos ambientais.
