In the 1400s, European merchants embarked on perilous journeys to India, prompting Italian explorer Christopher Columbus to seek a safer route. Opting to travel west, he unexpectedly stumbled upon the Americas, sparking a new era of exploration and colonization. After Columbus claimed America for Spain, subsequent explorers sought gold, chasing the elusive “seven cities of gold” myth without success.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Beginning in 1585, English settlers arrived in America, driven by a quest for religious freedom due to persecution by the Church of England. Meanwhile, French explorers, commissioned by their king, aimed to discover a westward passage to Asia, ultimately expanding French territory and initiating a lucrative fur trade with Native Americans.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The influx of European nations into the New World, each with distinct motives, necessitated more space. As colonization efforts intensified, territorial expansion became a source of conflict, leading to battles among European powers vying for control over the Americas.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
