At\u00e9 a <strong>Revolu\u00e7\u00e3o Francesa, <\/strong>o poder dos reis, era justificado por uma suposta vontade divina. Ap\u00f3s a Revolu\u00e7\u00e3o Francesa e com a queda da monarquia, tornou-se necess\u00e1rio elaborar princ\u00edpios que guiassem legisladores e governantes. Assim, a lei, j\u00e1 n\u00e3o era mais divina: tratava-se da lei humana, que deveria ser universal, isto \u00e9, v\u00e1lida para todos.
